Tell Us!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you haven\u2019t had a chance to take the Library survey, take three minutes and help us, help you: <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/techlibraries2019.questionpro.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Take the Library Survey<\/a>.\u00a0 Available until Wednesday, April 24th<\/strong>, the annual library survey is your chance to suggest changes, recommend new services or collections, and\/or lodge complaints about the temperature.<\/p>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-photo is-provider-giphy\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\nhttps:\/\/gph.is\/2RJTLiI\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because of your input, we&#8217;ve made the following changes to the library:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Extended hours (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"http:\/\/libguides.atu.edu\/about\/hours\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Extended hours<\/strong><\/a>, including later hours during the week, on Fridays, and a 24 hour opening period during finals.<\/li><li>Increased number of <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"study rooms (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"http:\/\/bookit.atu.edu\/booking\/studyrooms\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>study rooms<\/strong><\/a><\/li><li>Increased number of computer stations<\/li><li>Increased number of journals and databases to support <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"sciences (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"http:\/\/libguides.atu.edu\/az.php?s=21411\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>sciences<\/strong><\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/libguides.atu.edu\/az.php?s=9691\"><strong>nursing<\/strong><\/a>, and other STEM fields<\/li><li>Extended<strong> <\/strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"check-out times (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"http:\/\/libguides.atu.edu\/services\/students\/undergraduates\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>check-out times<\/strong><\/a> for calculators and DVDs for students<\/li><li>Replaced the broken chairs and <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"mid-90's floral couches (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.atu.edu\/library\/2017\/01\/23\/new-furniture\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>mid-90&#8217;s floral couches<\/strong><\/a><\/li><li>Purchased more <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Young Adult (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/atu-primo.hosted.exlibrisgroup.com\/primo-explore\/search?query=lsr03,contains,Young%20Adult,AND&amp;pfilter=pfilter,exact,books,AND&amp;tab=default_tab&amp;search_scope=default_scope&amp;sortby=date&amp;vid=NEW-UI-ARKTECH&amp;lang=en_US&amp;mode=advanced&amp;offset=0\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Young Adult<\/strong><\/a> and <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Popular Reading (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/atu-primo.hosted.exlibrisgroup.com\/primo-explore\/search?query=lsr03,contains,Popular%20Reading,AND&amp;pfilter=pfilter,exact,books,AND&amp;tab=default_tab&amp;search_scope=default_scope&amp;sortby=date&amp;vid=NEW-UI-ARKTECH&amp;lang=en_US&amp;mode=advanced&amp;offset=0\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Popular Reading<\/strong><\/a> books<\/li><li>Changed policy to allow drinks<\/li><li>Subscribed to <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"HeinOnline (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"http:\/\/libguides.atu.edu\/heinonline\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>HeinOnline<\/strong><\/a><\/li><li>Added an easy-to-use scanning station and fax machine<\/li><li>Added more movies and television shows<\/li><li>Invited the tutoring center for evening hours<\/li><li>Unlocked the balcony on the 3rd Floor<\/li><li>Purchased required <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"General Education Textbooks (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.atu.edu\/library\/2018\/01\/12\/textbooks-in-the-library\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>General Education Textbooks<\/strong><\/a> for check-out<\/li><li> Made this annual survey shorter <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As you can see, we&#8217;re eager to make the same changes, and your comments and input help us advocate for your needs.  While we always try to improve what we can, there are always a few requests that are not feasible at this time or cannot be so easily accommodated.  Below are some suggestions we simply cannot make happen at this time:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Allow Food<\/strong> &#8211; Nothing makes students hungrier than late-night studying.  Unfortunately, where food happens, pests follow, and the last thing we need are <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"well-educated mice trying to take over the world (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/GBkT19uH2RQ\" target=\"_blank\">well-educated mice trying to take over the world<\/a>.  <\/li><li><strong>Maintain the Perfect Temperature for Everyone<\/strong>&#8211;While have made great strides in upgrading our central AC\/Heat, it is not always going to be optimum for everyone at all times of the year.  But let our staff  know if you are too cold or too hot&#8211;we might be able to make adjustments or at least give you tips on low-price cardigans.<\/li><li><strong>A Quieter Library-<\/strong>-The library used to be a silent refuge from a noisy world, but learning can sometimes make sounds, especially group-learning.   That&#8217;s why we have designated the 1st floor as low noise and the 2nd floor as a quiet zone.  But since we cannot be everywhere all of the time, we have implemented a <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Text-A-Librarian service (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"http:\/\/libguides.atu.edu\/research\/help\/askus\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Text-A-Librarian service<\/strong><\/a> you can use to a summon shushing librarian to quiet things down.  We do our best, but we need your help.<\/li><li><strong>Open 24 Hours All The Time<\/strong>&#8211;This convenience and procrastination fuel is sorely needed on campus, we agree.  However, until the funds, the security, the staffing, and the coffee are available for such a service, it will remain just out of reach. <\/li><li><strong>More Monster Trucks<\/strong>&#8211;This is an actual comment.   <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even if there is a limit to what we can do, there is no limit to how hard we will work to help you succeed academically.
