{"id":3498,"date":"2021-03-03T20:48:57","date_gmt":"2021-03-03T20:48:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.atu.edu\/library\/?p=3498"},"modified":"2021-03-05T22:45:23","modified_gmt":"2021-03-05T22:45:23","slug":"6th-international-film-festival-begins-march-3rd","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.atu.edu\/library\/2021\/03\/03\/6th-international-film-festival-begins-march-3rd\/","title":{"rendered":"6th International Film Festival Begins March 3rd"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you have longed for the experience of sitting in a movie theater and watching a great film on the big screen again, then look no further than the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/libguides.atu.edu\/6iff#abcd\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">International Film Festival<\/a><\/strong>, set to kick-off March 3<sup>rd<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/libguides.atu.edu\/6iff#abcd\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-3499\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/blogs.atu.edu\/library\/files\/2021\/03\/filmfest2021.png?resize=644%2C404\" alt=\"Screenshot of the logo of the 6th International Film Festival At Tech\" width=\"644\" height=\"404\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/blogs.atu.edu\/library\/files\/2021\/03\/filmfest2021.png?resize=1024%2C642&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/blogs.atu.edu\/library\/files\/2021\/03\/filmfest2021.png?resize=300%2C188&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/blogs.atu.edu\/library\/files\/2021\/03\/filmfest2021.png?resize=768%2C481&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/blogs.atu.edu\/library\/files\/2021\/03\/filmfest2021.png?w=1144&amp;ssl=1 1144w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 644px) 100vw, 644px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Ross Pendergraft Library and the Department of World Languages have teamed up to bring the campus and community a sample of the finest films from around the world.<\/p>\n<p>Each film will be shown in Doc Bryan Auditorium at 7:00 P.M.\u00a0 While the university remains in Phase 1, attendance will be limited to 30 people on a first come, first serve basis.\u00a0 Each film is registered as a Global Focus <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.atu.edu\/ontrack\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">On Track<\/a><\/strong> event.\u00a0 Admission is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n<p>Take a trip and never leave the university with these eight films from Germany, Argentina, Japan, Cuba, and France:<\/p>\n<h3>Wednesday, March 3<sup>rd<\/sup> \u2013 El Secreto de Sus Ojos (The Secret in Their Eyes)<\/h3>\n<p>This crime drama from Argentina tells the story of a retired legal counselor writing a novel and hoping to find closure for one of his past unresolved homicide cases and for his unreciprocated love with his superior &#8211; both of which still haunt him decades later.\u00a0 This film won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 2009.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/dcK7WvdNSBc?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Thursday, March 4<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 Sanjuro<\/h3>\n<p>A crafty samurai helps a young man and his fellow clansmen save his uncle, who has been framed and imprisoned by a corrupt superintendent. \u00a0This 1962 action-packed comedy was directed by Akira Kurosawa, and it is the sequel to <em>Yojimbo<\/em>.\u00a0 It is in Japanese with English subtitles.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Uq_rSsbhQnE?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Tuesday, March 9<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 M<\/h3>\n<p>When the police in a German city are unable to catch a child-murderer, other criminals join in the manhunt.\u00a0 This German language thriller from 1931 was directed by Fritz Lang and stars Peter Lorre as the serial killer.\u00a0 It is widely considered one of the greatest films of all time.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/nsVproWjN6c?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Wednesday, March 10<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 Ernest et C\u00e9lestine<\/h3>\n<p>This animated French language comedy from 2012 features the story of an unlikely friendship between a bear, Ernest, and a young mouse named C\u00e9lestine.\u00a0 The film has won numerous international film awards, including the Magritte Award for Best Film.\u00a0 It was also nominated for the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; Accused of assault, he appeals to Elio to help him reach the forbidden world 90 miles across the ocean.
