Join us on Monday, October 9, in RPL 300B as we welcome award-winning author from Arkansas, Kevin Brockmeier for the October edition of our Second Monday Author Series.\u00a0 The event starts at 6:00 P.M., and admission is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n

\"Cover<\/a>A resident of Little Rock, Brockmeier will discuss his latest book, The Ghost Variations: One Hundred Stories<\/em><\/a><\/strong>, and share his general insights as an author.<\/p>\n

Brockmeier is also author of the memoir, A Few Seconds of Radiant Filmstrip<\/a><\/strong>; the novels, The Illumination<\/a><\/em><\/strong>, The Brief History of the Dead<\/a><\/em><\/strong>, and The Truth About Celia<\/em><\/strong><\/a>; the story collections Things That Fall from the Sky<\/em><\/strong><\/a> and The View from the Seventh Layer<\/a><\/strong><\/em>; and the children\u2019s novels City of Names<\/em><\/strong><\/a> and Grooves: A Kind of Mystery<\/a><\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n

Brockmeier\u2019s work has been translated into 18 languages and has been published in The New Yorker, The Georgia Review, McSweeney\u2019s, Zoetrope, Tin House, The Oxford American, The Best American Short Stories, The Year\u2019s Best Fantasy and Horror and New Stories from the South. In 2007, he was named one of\u00a0Granta<\/em>‘s Best Young American Novelists.\u00a0 He has received the Borders Original Voices Award, three O. Henry Awards (including one first prize), the PEN USA Award, a Guggenheim Fellowship and a National Endowment for the Arts Grant. He teaches frequently at the Iowa Writers\u2019 Workshop.<\/p>\n
