Best of 2017 and Winter Hours

As we reach the end of the year, it’s always good to take one final look back before jumping forward. So, I’ve compiled some “best of” book lists for 2017. If you see something on here you’d like to read, search Find It to see if one of the Tech Libraries own a copy. If we don’t, you can always request that we purchase a copy for the Library or you can InterLibrary Loan the item from another library.

NPR Best Books of 2017
The New York Times – 100 Notable Books of 2017
Publisher’s Weekly Best Books of 2017
Washington Post 10 Best Books of 2017
Amazon Editors’ Best Books of 2017
Wall Street Journal’s The Best Fiction and Nonfiction of 2017

See you all Next Year. Please note our Winter Interim Hours. May each of you have a very Happy Holiday Season (and break from your studies)!

Library Closed for Fall Break

The Ozark Campus Library’s physical space will be closed for Fall Break- Thursday, October 12th and Friday, October 13th. However, our digital presence remains open. If you need to work on research, you can still access the library’s databases, by searching Find It. And if you require computer access, the computer labs on campus will still be open both days.

Hopefully, though, you are able to relax and enjoy your Fall Break. Y’all deserve it after mid-terms!

See you on Monday!

Welcome!

I hope everyone’s first week back is going well!

For those new to campus, I want to invite you to come look around the library and see what is available to you. We have non-fiction books to help support you with whatever program you might be in, as well as fiction books if you have time to read for fun. We also have audiobooks on CD, DVDs, discs to check out for the disc golf course, reference books and through our online Find It we have ebooks and journal articles for your research papers.

The library is also the only place you’ll find a color copier/printer for student access. You just swipe your Tech ID or login using your OneTech login and password and any printjobs or copies you make is deducted from the $20 you get each semester to print with, no change or money needed!

Also take the time to look around the library’s website. LibGuides are a great place to start for research, help writing a paper, math help, etc.

Most importantly, I want you to know that if you need anything, please just ask, that is what I’m here for! Good luck this semester!

Library Closed May 22nd – May 29th

The Ozark Campus Library will be closed May 22nd – May 29th and will reopen on Tuesday, May 30th. If you need to return a library item, you may either drop it off in the Academic Affairs Office, TAS Rm. 151 or you may return it after we reopen. Don’t worry, you will not be charged any late fees! If you need to renew an item, you may always do so online. Log into your account on the Library’s FindIt website using your OneTech username and password, the login is located on the top right of the screen, click “My Account” and a list of your checked out items will appear. From there you can click, “Renew All” or “Renew Selected” and an updated due date will show.

I hope you all are enjoying your summer vacation!

Mobile Whiteboards Available to Check Out

The Ozark Campus Library now has two mobile whiteboards available to check out to students, faculty, and staff. The whiteboards check out for a 2 hour time period, which is renewable. Their usage will mainly be limited to the Student Union and lounge area to the west of the Bookstore, but exceptions may be made.

The boards are 36″H x 24″W and are double-sided and magnetic. They come with a white board eraser and set of Expo markers in red, black, green and blue. They are on casters and are easy to move.

We mainly see these being used for students’ study groups. However, anyone is welcome to check them out and use them and we wanted you to be aware.

Happy Finals Week! Good luck!

Library Closed During Fall Break

The Ozark Campus Library will be closed Thursday, October 20th and Friday, October 21st for Fall Break and will reopen for normal business hours on Monday, October 24th.

Whether your plans include studying hard to finish out the semester strong or getting outside and enjoying our beautiful state, we hope you have a great Fall Break!

“You’re open during Summer?!”

ferrisbueller

Yes, yes we are! We often get asked this question and we want you to know we are still here and open during the summer months, even when classes aren’t in session. Need a place to check your email and check on the status on your financial aid? Come see us! Want to check out a “fun” book to read before classes start? We have some new ones! Need a disc golf so you can enjoy a round on our campus course? We have them here!

It’s pretty quiet when you aren’t around, so feel free to drop by and say “Hi!”.

Work-Study Positions Available

We are looking for work-study students to help out in the Ozark Campus Library. You would be responsible for checking in/out library items, shelving library material, assisting students in the library and student union computer lab, etc. We are looking for students who are friendly, good with computers, and quick learners.

Discover Find It…

You might have noticed that the Library has a new search tool called Find It… where you can search not only physical items located in the library (such as books, DVDs and audiobooks), but you can search for scholarly articles in our subscription databases as well…in one place. ONE. PLACE.

While Find It replaces our online catalog and indexes most of our subscription databases, you can still search a specific database by visiting our A-Z Database page. However, I think you will find that Find It will be more than sufficient for your research, and easier to use.

It defaults to an “everything” search, but you can select to search only Tech Collections (to see items the library owns) or Articles (to search in our subscription databases). Once you have searched you can then use the left side of the page to refine your results by type, location, date, and more.

You can also sign in to “My Account” and see what you have checked out, renew your items, or make a list of saved items from a search to view later.
If you have questions please come see me, Kristie Moore – Ozark Campus Librarian.  We can learn together.
