Hello!
It’s so nice to be writing on here again. I’ve just finished my first week back at the University of Massachusetts. Adapting to life here has been much easier so far compared to last semester. I’ve already jumped through the hurdles it took to figure everything out last year, so this go around is much easier. I already know I’m going to enjoy all of my classes. I have more that are hospitality-focused which I like a lot better than gen-ed classes.
Though most things are the same as last semester, there is one difference. I have a new roommate, her name is Nakailah. She seems sweet and easy to get along with so far. We went to the Fire and Ice Festival that happened downtown over the weekend. My favorite part was the ice sculptures that lined the road. I think the artists that create such pieces are so talented. They reminded me of Groundhog Day, the movie. In it, Bill Murray’s character learns the art of creating ice sculptures, along with many other skills. Coincidently, the country celebrated Groundhog Day last Friday. We were happy to learn that Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow, calling for an early spring. It’s hard to see how a spring day could happen anytime soon around here though. It is very cold, which I’ve often underestimated. I’m not used to having to bundle up so much when I leave the house each day. But there have been several times where I’ve walked out of the dorms towards class, completely forgetting my coat. Nakailah and I agreed that the next time it snows we’re going to build the biggest snowman we can. It’s looking like it’s going to snow next Monday, so I’m excited.
Looking forward to writing in the weeks to come.
