Amherst, MA — Update #12: Aarah

May 10, 2024 by ashannon4

Hello everybody!

Today was my last day of class, how bittersweet it is! Next week I will have two final exams and then I will fly back home on Thursday.

About a week ago I got the opportunity to travel to Boston again to tour some hotels with the AHLA club.  Boston was just as wonderful as it always has been.  We toured the Omni Seaport, the Intercontinental, and the Boston Harbor Hotel (my personal favorite).  We were able to see the front and back of house operations and meet the managers running its everyday functions.  We toured suits that have housed famous celebrities such as Madonna, The Obamas, and royalty such as Prince Harry and Megan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.  That night after our tours, a few friends and I shopped at the Quincy Market, stopping for photo-ops along the way.  I really loved getting to spend more time with this group, we hadn’t seen much of each other since the New York City trip last fall, an excursion that was just as fun as this one.  The next morning we all had breakfast together in the hotel and then went our separate ways.  A few other friends and I spent the rest of the day in Boston getting lunch and watching some street performers.  I hate having to say goodbye to this city that I’ve grown to love. They’ve told me that I’ll just have to come back to visit, a suggestion that I might have to take them up on.

The rest of the week I plan on packing up my things and getting dinner with a few of my closest friends to say goodbye.  I’m having a hard time understanding how I feel about leaving.  In some aspects I’m happy to be going home, I’ve missed my friends and family.  But I know once I leave I’ll reminisce about the time I’ve spent here.  Life moves on though, and I’ll have a long break to enjoy before starting up another semester at home.
