Hey everyone,
My name is Kaedyn. I’m a sophomore who will be studying electrical engineering at the University of Applied Sciences Mittelhessen in Friedberg, Germany.
I chose the Giessen/Friedberg campuses because I am most familiar with the region. The summer of 2024 I visited many cities in Germany and fell in love with the area I will now be living in from April – August. For me, Germany is perfect for continuing my studies in engineering. The new foreign perspective on subjects like mathematics, programming, and hardware will prepare me for my future in the field of electrical engineering.
While of course I will miss my friends and families, getting to explore a whole new world of culture, people, and ideas outweighs that anxiety. Escaping your comfort zone is important for growth and a leap like this is sure to challenge my intrapersonal skills and help me grow as a person.
The German curriculum is something I am prepared to struggle against. From what I’ve heard from both German professors and students, the severity of the programs can feel more strict than our American counterparts. However, this new challenge will present me with an opportunity to grow my skills as an engineer and student.
What I am most looking forward to is the food and seeing my friends again. German bread is one of the greatest things on Earth and it’s been too long since I’ve had it. And of course my friends who I haven’t seen in almost half a year now, I will get to hang out with again!
What I am most nervous about would probably be the curriculum. As an engineering student I am aware of the difficulty of my courses and just hope that with enough hard work I can end the semester off with all A’s! I’ll see you later!
