Hey guys,
It’s been a pretty crazy couple of weeks here in Deutschland, but it’s an enjoyable chaos as always. School is going well. As some of you know, classes are usually only once a week (sometimes twice for classes with “Labs”) so having more free time to explore my surrounding area, indulge in hobbies, and hang out with new friends is one of the biggest pros about being a student in Germany. As an engineering student I am getting more opportunities to work on actual projects than I ever did at ATU. For example, 4 out of my 5 classes are engineering courses 3 of which are letting us work on an active project during class time and of course on our own time. The supplies are all given and the instructors are more than happy to help point you into the right direction if you get stuck on a particularly thorny problem. Some things I’m working on right now for those of you that are curious.
1. Solar Tracker (using Arduino Uno)
2. Electronic Pinball Machine with Mobile access (using Raspberry Pi)
3. Autonomous Robot Model
Now for what every student who studies in Europe gets excited for, traveling is up next. So far I have traveled more outside of Germany than inwards, but I think this is very common for someone who’s now been in the country as long as I have referring to my time last summer in Germany. I have visited both Belgium, the land of the waffles and Switzerland, home to the most beautiful nature you’ll ever witness. Being able to travel these almost fantastical places with some friends of mine has been nothing less of a dream come true. As stressful as it can be and as high some of these places can cost you, you really do mature in unprecedented ways.
I do miss my friends and family still, but as always I’m excited for what’s to come this month! Every week is a new adventure as long as you answer the call.
Mit besten und auf Wiedersehen!
