Hallo meine Freunde,
It has now been almost 2 months since I have arrived in Germany. For me the honeymoon phase is practically over with life starting to feel normal now. My usual weekday goes like this. Wake up and get ready around 8 am. I usually will either make breakfast myself or if I am feeling lazy just pick up some baked goods and a coffee from my local Bahnhof Bäckerei (train-station bakery for my English readers). My order is always the same, 1 order of a strawberry croissant and a medium Mocha-Choco coffee. German bread truly is the best way to start your day. Next I head to my university to either study and/or classes. Classes here typically last around 60 to 90 minutes with each course having 1 to 2 per week. If you are in a STEM degree, expect each course to usually have one class per week for lecture which teaches theory and one class per week for seminar which includes lab or project work. After classes, I usually go eat with my friends and classmates at my Uni’s Mensa (cafeteria) which offers quite the array of dishes and sides that are all freshly made that morning. It’s usually around 4pm after all of this so I have time to go to the gym, get groceries, or complete other chores before heading back home.
Overall being a full-time student leaves you busy most of the weekdays especially for other students who like to immerse themselves in school-projects. I’ve already made so many friends from places I didn’t even know existed until now. Being an international student has really made me mature and grow as a person in indescribable ways and connected me to the world on a deeper level. Till next time, Tschüss!
