{"id":1977,"date":"2023-11-24T21:06:39","date_gmt":"2023-11-24T21:06:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.atu.edu\/studyabroad\/?p=1977"},"modified":"2023-11-24T21:06:39","modified_gmt":"2023-11-24T21:06:39","slug":"update-6","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.atu.edu\/studyabroad\/2023\/11\/24\/update-6\/","title":{"rendered":"update 6"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Hi guys,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It\u2019s beginning to look (and feel) a lot like Christmas here in Germany, and there\u2019s a christmas market right outside of my apartment, which is nice to see when I go to class. Nothing much has happened since my last blog, but the air has been getting colder and rainier, and the semester is moving along quickly. As I get more used to the way German universities run, I\u2019ve realized how different it is from ATU. But maybe it\u2019s also because this university hasn&#8217;t had an ATU exchange student before either. Anyway, I have a few presentations coming up as well as essays to write for my final exams for my classes here (these are the only grades for the entire semester), so I\u2019m staying extra busy. Our finals aren\u2019t due until the end of March, which is when the semester ends, so it\u2019s pretty different! But I also get two months of spring break \ud83d\ude09 In my free time lately I\u2019ve been going to coffee shops and studying, and on Friday I\u2019m going to Heidleberg to visit the gorgeous university with a good friend that I\u2019ve made here. I\u2019m starting to like Europe more and more, and I think I\u2019ll definitely consider going to graduate school here \ud83d\ude42 As for my German speaking progress, I can tell I\u2019m getting better. It\u2019s crazy how fast you learn and pick up another language when you are exposed to it every day.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">One thing that i\u2019ve grown to absolutely love here is the health insurance system. When I have to go to the doctor (if you study abroad you for sure will too at some point), everything is completely covered by the German health insurance. I think this is really helpful for us students and is super convenient.
