However, one did get cancelled and I was unaware. I am not in the online classroom yet, so I did not receive the email. I was not the only person who showed up though because another international exchange student did not see the email, so we decided to go to the Mensa to get lunch and talk. It was a fun chat about our classes and what we think so far. We are both in the social sciences, so we share a lot of classes.

I also reached out to my stepbrother who I haven’t talked to in a minute and found out he is in Japan. This means that I am in the middle of the two time zones with Arkansas being seven hours behind Germany and Japan being seven hours ahead. I honestly thought this was just super funny that unknowingly, I ended up right in the middle of the two.

There are a couple of things that I have done while here so far that make me proud. One is that I try to make myself speak German as much as I can when interacting with others. This doesn’t include classmates, but with things such as ordering something at a restaurant. I don’t feel extremely confident in my German, but I am stepping out of my comfort zone and not being as afraid of making mistakes. The second thing I am proud of also requires me to step out of my comfort zone. I am proud of myself for talking to more people, most of them being other internationalstudents. I am not a very extroverted person, so talking to people and making friends can be intimidating to me sometimes. However, I have made friends with many di1erent international students from various places in the world

Classes are o1icially in full swing.
