The streets were filled with Secret Service as Donald Trump arrived into D.C. that day. Fences blocked off every road that was on the route from the Capitol to the White House, especially the street the Trumps would walk down to their new home during the parade. It was becoming so real that history was about to happen in front of our eyes.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-255 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.atu.edu\/studyabroad\/files\/2017\/01\/IMG_1665.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_1665\" width=\"334\" height=\"187\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Early in the morning, Savannah and I had a TV interview at the U.S. Capitol with KARK4 News. The reporter, Drew Petrimoulx, asked us about our experience in D.C. and the things we had learned in our two weeks there. It was great being able to represent Arkansas Tech and share a little of our experience with our friends and family back home!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_256\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-256\" style=\"width: 250px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-256\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.atu.edu\/studyabroad\/files\/2017\/01\/IMG_1664.jpg\" alt=\"Museum of Natural History\" width=\"250\" height=\"313\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-256\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 Museum of Natural History<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>After our interview, we explored the Smithsonians and did some souvenir shopping.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_257\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-257\" style=\"width: 330px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-257\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.atu.edu\/studyabroad\/files\/2017\/01\/IMG_1662.jpg\" alt=\"U.S. Capitol\" width=\"330\" height=\"440\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-257\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 U.S. Capitol<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Savannah and I both love the\u00a0Museum of Natural History so we spent most of our time there checking out all the amazing exhibits. It feels like you&#8217;re going back\u00a0millions of years in time!<\/p>\n<p>My favorite part of inauguration eve was the Make America Great Again Celebration at the Lincoln Memorial. Some of the entertainment included Lee Greenwood, 3 Doors Down and country music star Toby Keith. We were able to get a spot right up front! The entire Trump family including the president-elect&#8217;s children and grandchildren were there to watch with us. At the end of the celebration, Donald Trump pumped up the crowd for his inauguration the next day and the night ended with amazing displays of red, white and blue fireworks.
