EDLD Program

The Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Educational Leadership (EDLD) is designed to prepare candidates for state licensure as a building-level principal. It reflects the Professional Standards for Educational Leaders (PSEL), the National Educational Leadership Preparation (NELP) Building Level Standards, and all School Leadership Standards adopted by the state of Arkansas.

The program offers two options: An M.Ed. in Educational Leadership (34-credit-hours) or an “Endorsement Only” option (25-credit-hours or less) for those who have completed a Masters in a related field (subject to approval by the Program Director).

Successful completion leads to a P-12 Building Level Administrator endorsement (276), which qualifies the holder to serve as a principal or assistant principal in any setting from preschool through 12th grade. The ATU website contains additional details about the EDLD program.

On a more personal note, here’s a list of current courses I teach including their descriptions. However, I’m a firm believer in the power of shared information … so resources throughout this blog are “open” and available to everyone, even those not enrolled in one of my courses. Please feel free to share!

What Our Graduates Say …

ATU’s EDLD program offers an exciting, interactive curriculum that helps prepare counselors, teachers, and coaches to become highly-effective principals. Our graduates enthusiastically recommend the program, and often talk about how it has contributed to their successful careers.

In these short video clips, graduates describe their personal experience. Please note that in addition to traditional settings, some graduates now lead “schools of innovation,” conversion charters, and private schools. Others serve in leadership roles like special programs director, assistant to the superintendent, university teacher education director, and more. Browsing through the videos is an excellent way to get a good feel for what the EDLD program is like and where it might lead you.
