A new Federal Report on “school choice” has just been released by the National Center for Education Statistics. This two-decade project studied changes in enrollment in traditional public schools, charters, and private schools … including information on achievement and parental satisfaction.
The bottom line? Despite a five-fold increase in the charter sector between 2000 and 2016, the report found no meaningful difference in achievement between charter schools and traditional public schools.
The report also includes five key findings about schooling in America and how it is continuing to change.
